REFORM Project Newsletter – October 2025
REFORM Project Newsletter – October 2025 October has been a month of refinement and preparation. With the September build phase behind us, the consortium has focused on strengthening the scientific backbone, finalising decision structures for the Toolbox, and shaping the evaluation framework that will support next year’s pilot.
WP1 — Science & Evaluation
Protocol Paper Revision in Progress
The REFORM protocol paper continues through journal revisions.
This month’s work has focused on clarifying methodological details and strengthening the description of the intervention components to ensure alignment across all four partner countries.
Pilot Evaluation Framework Taking Shape
October marked significant progress in defining how we will evaluate the 2026 pilot.
Work has included:
- pre/post knowledge assessments for coaches and referees
- usability and acceptability items aligned with the MOOC and Toolbox
- early mapping of implementation fidelity indicators
- mechanisms for country teams to feed structured data back into WP1
The framework will be finalised in November and integrated into pilot planning.
WP2 — Learning & Content
Toolbox Structure Consolidated
While the first full version of the Toolbox is expected in November, October focused on refining the decision pathways for coaches and referees:
- when to suspect a concussion
- what immediate actions to take
- how to communicate with parents and club officials
- when and how return-to-play decisions must be escalated
These decision maps are now aligned with the MOOC and will support consistent understanding across countries.
MOOC Refinement
Following the September beta release in Norwegian, German, Croatian, and Turkish, refinement work continued—ensuring that navigation, sequence, and visuals support a smooth learning experience ahead of the pilot.
WP3 — Country Activation
Pilot Preparation, Not Yet Outreach
October has been a preparation month for WP3.
Country teams have been:
- identifying suitable clusters of clubs
- mapping internal communication lines
- preparing onboarding routines for coaches
- aligning with the forthcoming evaluation framework
Outreach to clubs will begin next month once the Toolbox v1 and roadmap materials are finalised.
WP4 — Dissemination
Internal Alignment for Pilot Season
Partners have updated internal communication guidelines to ensure consistent language and messaging across countries during the pilot rollout.
Drafts of club-facing materials and templates have been initiated and will be completed together with the Toolbox in November.
Looking Ahead to November
Next month will bring several key milestones:
- Toolbox v1 completed
- Club outreach strategies finalised
- Pilot roadmap consolidated
- Evaluation tools integrated into country activation workflows
October has been a quiet but essential month—strengthening the structure that will support REFORM’s transition to real-world implementation in early 2026.
