 Dear REFORM Team and Partners,

REFORM Project Newsletter – September 2024 We hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready for an exciting autumn as we continue our journey with the REFORM project. Here’s an update on what has been happening and what’s coming up in the project.

Grant Agreements and Funding

We are pleased to share that we are in the final stages of getting all the grant agreements signed. This is a significant step forward for the project, and we are currently working on disbursing the funding to all partners. Rolf-Are Åbotsvik is leading this effort, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Ethics Applications

Ethics applications for the survey component have been submitted in all participating countries, and we are now actively working on the ethics applications for the focus groups.

Survey Distribution Strategy

We have developed a comprehensive strategy for survey distribution, which will be implemented across our four countries. A detailed checklist and strategy will be explained in more detail during our next online meeting, which is scheduled for next Tuesday.

Website and Content

Our website is currently under construction, and we now need content for WP4. During the meeting in Oslo, we discussed best practices, training documents for coaches, families, athletes, and publications. We need at least one content example to understand the type of material required, so we can create a sub-page on the website for these resources. Here’s the link to the website’s homepage: mindtheconcussion.com. The structure is in place, and it’s time to start uploading content. We have posted some blog content about concussions in football as examples, but these will be removed once we have the real content. Please reach out to Deniz Şentop to contribute; we hope that all work packages and organizations will do so as soon as possible.

The website will include the following sections:

  • Publications
  • Training– for kids, coaches, and parents
  • Contact Us

We have also set up the email structure, so we can create email addresses as needed.

Conference Preparations

Preparations for our international conference in Saarbrücken next year are well underway. Here is the link to the conference: gest.uni-saarland.de. Giulia is planning to apply to present an abstract on our survey findings by October 15th.

From the project management side, we will try to schedule meetings with WP leaders to review our milestones and deliverables. We will also schedule meetings with all partner organizations to check in on the progress of internal work.
